Obituary of Jan SNITOWSKI
Jan Dominic Snitowski
Loving Husband, Father, Grandpa - Jan passed peacefully on the evening of June 28, 2010, at St. Boniface Hospital surrounded by his family, following two weeks of great courage and strength. Jan was predeceased by his parents Michal and Teofilia (nee Kulikowsky) Snitowski, his stepfather Marion Garton, his mother-in-law Anna Bieganowski, and his grandson Adam Young.
Jan is survived by his wife Lilian (nee Leonow) and her brothers Stanley and Richard; children: Michal (Kim), Kara (Kevin), Robert (Arlee), and Alexander; grandchildren: Ashley, Jessica, Kevin (Roberta), Marc; great-grandson Paxton; and his pals, Buddy and Ralphie.
Jan was born in Ukraine on July 9, 1937. He and Lilian spent 48 loving years together. Jan worked very hard at Ogilvie Flour Mills for 25 years.
Jan enjoyed spending most of his free time at the cottage and had a great fondness for animals, nature, food, and travel, but above all, he loved puzzles. He was very resourceful - he would "fix" anything - and was always found puttering about.
Jan had a most charming, exuberant spirit, and a keen sense of humor. His commitment and loyalty to family was exceptional. He spent countless hours generously sharing himself with family, and would befriend anyone he met.
Prayers, Friday July 2nd at 7:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Inkster Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 3rd at 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford Street at Corydon Avenue. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers consider a donation in Jan's memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or Winnipeg Humane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Special thanks to all the St. Boniface Cardiac ICU staff.
We'll rejoice in our memories. Our loss is profound. Jan, you shall be sadly missed - Never forgotten.
