Albert Smith

Obituary of Albert Smith

ALBERT GARNET SMITH Peacefully, on the evening of June 28, 2009, surrounded by his family and loved ones, at the age of 69 years. Albert was deeply loved by his wife, Olga, of 48 years and sons Terry (Brenda), Rodney (Cheryl), and three wonderful grandchildren, Matthew, Austin and Meaghan. Albert was predeceased by his parents, Garnet and Marie Louise Smith, brothers Raymond and Melvin Smith and sister Lucinda Walker (John). He will be sadly missed by all his brothers, Alain (Carole), Terry (Val), sisters Anita Symak (Mike) and Linda Berry (Wayne), brother-in-law Joe Klish (Sheila), along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dad was born March 30, 1940 in Laurie, MB. He spent many years working up north with heavy equipment. He then went on to own his own business (flooring, recycling, and renovation) retiring in 2005. Dad was known by many of his close friends as "The Bear". Due to his no nonsense personality they realized quickly that he was the first person they could count on for anything, be it a job, advice, money or a roof over their head. Dad's generosity has touched many. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba.
