Obituary of Pearl FEDORCHUK)

PEARL SHYCHOSKI (NEE FEDORCHUK) On November 1st, 2010 at Concordia Hospital, Pearl Shychoski, our dearly beloved mother passed away at the age of 97 years. She is survived by daughters Bernice (Wayne) Chesley of Medicine Hat and Grace (Howard) Hicks of Winnipeg. Grandchildren Jill Chesley (Kat) of Edmonton; Debra Chesley of Toronto; and Jay (Tracy) Chesley of Medicine Hat, Geoffery (Jane Sandison) Hicks of Vancouver, . and Great Granddaughter Elizabeth Chesley of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to mourn her passing, sister Natalie Sochasky of Winnipeg and brother Alexander (Irene) Fedorchuk of Abbotsford. She was predeceased by husband Leonard in 1966. Our Mother, born October 13th, 1913, lived through two World Wars and the Great Depression. While growing up on the farm in Saskatchewan, her parents instilled a strong work ethic that never faltered. The fourth oldest of a family of ten, an education beyond Grade eight was not an option in those days. Although she had plans of becoming a teacher, she was required instead to assist in bringing up her siblings. After her marriage to Leonard in 1937, they continued to farm around Insinger, SK. In 1947 with two young daughters they moved to Winnipeg where Pearl had a long and successful career with the Model Manufacturing Co. She loved to travel through work, visiting grandchildren and holidays in the sun. She loved her home and flower garden and baked the best bread, pies and buns ever. Her two cats, Bipsi and Mimi were her constant companions. In 2002, she moved into Grace and Howard's home and eventually a new feline friend "Lovey", became a great source of comfort. Mother, you never complained and you were always grateful for a beautiful life with family and showed it in so many ways with your kindness. You were always a lady. Your strength became our strength. Your family can only thank you for showing us the way. We can only hope to follow in your footsteps. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 8th, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at St Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Avenue, Winnipeg with Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society; CancerCare Manitoba or the Red Cross.
