Obituary of Helen ROGA

HELEN ROGA (nee Hanesiak) August 12, 1915 - April 14, 2009 It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearest mother on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Donwood Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband George Roga; parents and 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Helen is survived by her daughter Georgina (Peter) Ferris of Waterdown, Ontario and son Gary (Dora) of Lethbridge, Alberta; grandchildren Andrea Moore of Oakville, Ontario, Jason (Teresa) Roga of Lethbridge, Alberta, Leanne (Adam) Spitzer of Lethbridge and great grandchildren Julianne, Kristjan Roga and Dylan Sofia Spitzer. Helen is also survived by her sister Rose Bodner and many nieces and nephews. Helen grew up on a farm near Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba, and attended Prout School. She worked in a sewing factory in Winnipeg and later moved to the town of Winnipeg Beach where she married her husband George, where her door was always open to family and friends. Helen moved to Winnipeg in 1992, on Templeton Avenue and later to Donwood Manor. Helen then stayed at Misericordia Place and finally moved to Donwood Personal Care Home. Helen was a wonderful cook, the fridge and freezer were always full of her delicacies. Her greatest joy was raising her two children and having her large extended family come to visit. A special thank you to the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for the loving and compassionate care of our beloved mother during her stay. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with cremation to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
