ABEL FERNANDES RIBEIRO

1937 - 2008

Passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 71.

He was predeceased by his son Jose Luis in 1987; his parents and sister.

Abel is survived by his wife of 47 years, Laurinda; daughter Ana Maria; grandchildren Carlos, Sandi, Madison and Ashley; also 2 great grandsons Landen Michael and Curtis; brothers in Portugal and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born in Lindoso, Ponte Da Barca, Portugal. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1970 and began working for PCL Construction where he remained until his retirement.

He will be sadly missed by all his loved ones.

The family would like to thank everyone, especially the wonderful staff at the Health Sciences Centre, for their compassion and support during his struggles.

Prayers will be said on Monday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.
