Obituary of Frank RESCH

FRANK RESCH August 15, 1921- October 30, 2009 Peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre after a brief illness, Frank Resch passed away. Frank is survived by his daughter Frances & son-in-law Bill Bradley, sister Sue Gordon, (Wpg), grandchildren Richard Bradley (Alta) Kim & Randy Carriere (Ste Anne) their children Mackenzie, Aaron, Michael, Keshia & Kayla, & his nephew Ron Resch (Janice) of Red Deer Alta. He was predeceased by his wife Eloise in 1982. Frank was born in Winnipeg and was a proud "north-ender". In his youth he was an avid hockey and pool player, and served in the Navy. He worked as a bartender in Lampman Sk. where he met and married Eloise. They moved back to Winnipeg and had one child Frances.Over the years he bartended at the St. Joseph's Men's Club, The Club Morroco, The Westminster Hotel, The Beachcomber, The Highlander Curling Club and finally at the Army Navy Veteran's Club making many friends and acquaintances. He retired at 65. During his retirement he enjoyed golfing at the Selkirk Golf Club, where he and his buddies would compete fiercely for quarters on the greens. Their arguments were always the same, but ended in playing another round to see who could get even. He loved swimming in his pool in summer, and soaking in the hot tub in winter, and especially socializing with friends and family that came to the many pool parties. Frank enjoyed the gaming world, and loved to play the odds. In the last year, he especially looked forward to his Tuesday outing to South Beach Casino with friends, Frankie, Joyce & Kay. We will miss his competitive spirit and his way with words at our family rumoli games. Frank celebrated his 88th birthday in August, and up until then had a very healthy and active life. Frank was a very generous, giving man, and a great father. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Garcia, 3E Palliative Care Ward of the Riverview Health Centre for making dad's final days comfortable. At Frank's request immediate cremation has taken place, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
