Obituary of Helen PROVEDA

HELEN PROVEDA (nee TOMIUK) Peacefully at her home on Wednesday July 9th 2008, Helen, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 90 years. Helen is survived by her daughter Patricia, her grandchildren Michelle (Kent), Aline (Ken), and James, and her great-grandson Tyler Saywell. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister Lovey of Winnipeg and brother Donald of Edmonton, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Proveda and first husband Joseph Kolsun, sisters Olga, Elsie and Anne, brothers Billy and Walter, and parents Pauline and John Tomiuk. Helen was born and raised in Point Douglas and lived her whole life in Winnipeg. She spent many happy times with all of her friends and family, and was an excellent cook, baker and gardener. The greatest babysitter, Helen especially enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren with Auntie Annie. She worked at CanVin for many years before retiring, and always enjoyed watching golf and baseball on TV. She will be missed. Special thanks to cousin John Tomiuk, as Helen always looked forward to seeing you. Funeral service will be held on Monday July 14th at 11am at Cropo Funeral Chapel 1442 Main Street with Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
