ELGIN PRESLEY On Saturday, May 23, 2009 Elgin Presley, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the HSC Rehabilitation Hospital at the age of 69 years. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Mary Anne (Jason) of Winnipeg, son Mike of Winnipeg, two grandchildren, Nicole and Katelyn, his brother Curtis and sister Constance. He was predeceased by his mother Annie Plante, father Ernest Presley, step-dad Wilfred Plante sisters Margaret, Aldeen, Joan, Madeline, Elaine, and brothers Kenneth and Ellesworth. Born in Gilbert Plains, MB he moved with his family to Winnipeg as a young boy. His dad Ernest passed away in 1946 when he was six years old. His mom met his step-dad Wilfred and married a few years later. They moved to Hinton, AB in 1957. Elgin had many fond memories of when he was there and told many stories about the bears. They moved back to Winnipeg in 1961. Elgin settled in the north end of Winnipeg. He met his wife Mary and married in 1977. They started a family and had two children. He was very proud of both children and felt doubly blessed when his granddaughters arrived. Elgin worked at various jobs throughout his life. His passion was driving truck. He started out at a messenger company, worked at CP Intermodial and at Hobart. His other passion was spending time with his family and friends at the Army & Navy Legion playing bingo. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is dearly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. K. Ethans and Dr. A. Casey at the HSC Rehabilitation Hospital, Crystal (OT Department) and Kevin (PT Department), all the staff on the 5th floor Spinal Cord Injury Unit for giving him excellent care. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or a charity of your choice. Always in out thoughts. Forever in our hearts. You are now at peace.
