Obituary of Peter PONDY
PETER PONDY
August 10, 1924 - December 20, 2010
Peacefully our Dad and Grandpa slipped away on December 20. This Christmas he will be resting in Heavenly Peace.
Dad will be greatly missed by his son Ron (Linda); two daughters Linda (Glen), Debbie (Roy); grandchildren, Daniel, Vanessa, Ashley and Christopher. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends here and in the USA and abroad.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1966, his parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Dad was born in 1924 in Cooks Creek, MB and educated at Zora School. Dad was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, Cooks Creek and Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, Wpg. He served in WWII and shortly after started working for the CN Railway where he retired after 33 years. After Mom passed away, Dad took on the role as Dad and Mr. Mom. Doing the household chores and learning to cook great meals, which we all admired him for. As time went on we learned his trade secrets for cooking which he enjoyed sharing. As he grew older we let him sit back while we took care of him. He loved being with people and everyone loved him. Dad enjoyed many outings to the Dauphin Ukrainian Festival, Folklorama, and mushroom and berry picking. He loved the outdoors. Dad had great respect for his children and grandchildren, he was a great leader in our lives.
A big thank you to a special Dr. and friend, Dr. Mehta, the wonderful home care staff, Greg, Wayne, Maurice and Mauriceo and special nurse Glenda.
Prayers will be held on Monday, December 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, MB.
Rest in Peace Dad, We will miss you.
