Obituary of Norville PERKINS
On March 8, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre, Ross "Perky" Perkins, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 76 years.
Besides his wife Pauline, he leaves to mourn, his daughter Sharon (Peter) Ostash of Brandon, his son Dan (Cathy) of Gimli; 4 grandchildren Derek, Drew, Owen and Sarah.
He was predeceased by son Brian John, brothers William, Kempton, Phillip and Millard, sisters Marie and Roberta.
Ross was born in Gordonville, New Brunswick on July 3, 1932. At an early age Ross joined the Canadian Army. He served with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Korea and was awarded the Mentioned in Dispatch, Medal for Bravery.
After his army career he became a salesperson at Community Chev Olds. Ross loved vehicles, whether buying them or selling them. It was at this time he also discovered his next love, golf. He spent many happy years as a member of the Rossmere Golf & Country Club.
"Perky" loved playing with the boys while spending countless hours on the putting green perfecting his putting stroke.
We will all miss his sharp wit and contagious smile.
The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia ICU, Health Sciences Centre, MICU and SICU for their care and compassion.
According to Ross's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Scott MacAuley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ross's memory to a charity of your choice.
