JOHN BERNIE PAYJACK 1922-2010 John's wish was to live out his life at home. On Saturday, December 4, 2010 John Payjack passed away peacefully at home. He is survived by his nine children, Betty Nykyforak (Mervin), Judy Hawrychuk (the late Russell) , Jane Yakimishyn (Paul), Mildred Kopec (George Sr.), Lawrence, Charles (Janet), Patricia, Rosemarie Hamell (Roland) and Joseph (Allison). Grandfather of Noreen (John), Wayne (Laura), Craig, Lori, Cheryl (John), Brian (Tanya), Shawn (Val), George Jr (Lori-Ann), Patricia, Angela, Jonathon, Thomas, Christin (Mike), Darren (Tiffany), Jodi (Billie-Lynn), Dilan (Kaitlyn). Great-grandfather of Jaden, Reagan, Renae, Rylee, Rayne, John Russell, Matthew, Payton, Jaron, Shawn Jr, Casey Jean, Jakob. He is also survived by his brothers Bill and Jim and sister Mary Natiuk and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his wife Anne (2006), by his parents Nicholas and Elsie, his brothers Edward, Martin and Walter, his sisters Mildred and Olga and son-in-law Russell. John was born October 26, 1922 in Rossdale and attended school in Birdshill. His desire to work with his hands instead of continuing his education led him eventually into the construction field. He joined the army as a rifleman and on December 25, 1943 he married Anne Rodozoniak. Together they raised their children in Birdshill, Elmwood and finally in East St. Paul. He went into concrete construction with his brothers and later with his sons. He had the capability of taking on the jobs that other contractors were unable to do. In his retirement he enjoyed playing cribbage and the slots, going fishing, and working in his garden. To all who knew him, he was the "Garlic King". He was a member of East St. Paul Seniors Club and the Elmwood Branch #9 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed the Game Show Network and he enjoyed it when company joined him for a shot. He truly appreciated the friendship of the Seniors Club and the baking and canning that they brought him. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 9 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will take place on Friday, December 10 at 2:30 p.m. also at the Chapel.
