Mate PAULIC

Obituary of Mate PAULIC

MATE PAULIC MARCH 30, 1952 - APRIL 29, 2009 Peacefully at his home Mate passed away at the age of 57 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 37 years, Dragica; son Mike (Angie); daughter Anita (Bryan) and his precious grandchildren Adam, Gabrielle, Cody and Danika. He will also be missed by his brothers Martin (Kate) and Paja (Milka); sister Maria (George), their families and too many friends to list. Mate was predeceased by his father Mile and mother Dragica. Dad was born in Batnoga, Croatia. He moved to Canada with his mother and siblings in 1970 after the tragic death of his father. Dad loved his work. He was a tower crane operator for over 30 years, travelling across Canada to wherever there was work in order to provide for his family. He took great pride in having worked atop Winnipeg's tallest skyscrapers. Dad enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing and hunting with the boys; English Lake won't be the same without him. His greatest passion though was his grandchildren. His "little people" as he called them, were the pride and joy of his life. The Croatian community of Winnipeg exists because of people like our father. From construction of the church, helping establish the Folklorama pavilion, soccer group and his lifelong commitment to the United Croats of Canada, Croatian people of Canada, US and abroad will miss you. Prayers will be said on Friday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Tavelich Roman Catholic Church, 2688 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 2 at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matija Paulich, Franjo Rendulic, Zvone Rendulic, Ivica Flanjak, Drago Rupcic and Mate Rendulic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mate's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Pocivaj u Miru Bozjem Tata
