Obituary of Lucille Pasinuk

Lucille (Lucy) Pasinuk We are saddened to announce that Lucy Pasinuk passed away peacefully on April 21, 2008 at Golden Links Lodge at the age of 83. Lucy was born on August 31, 1924, in Winnipeg. As a young woman she worked for a number of years in the Grill Room in the former Eaton's downtown. Following that, she went where her heart led her, doing what she loved best. She was "Nanny" to countless children for whom she cared with a mutual love. Lucy loved people, especially children. Her kindness and generosity were truly products of her warm heart and affectionate nature. Lucy had an infectious laugh and, even in the face of adversity, had a smile that wrapped itself around you. Lucy turned lemons into lemonade. She had a very strong faith, which carried her gently through the ups and downs of life. Her everyday hero was her son Richard by whom she will be sorely missed. They had a very special bond that was with her to the end and still is. She was very proud of him and always made sure everyone knew " That's my son". Throughout her failing health, over the last year, Lucy maintained a stiff upper lip and a vibrant sense of humor, all the while holding a great respect for those who cared for her. You were all her angels of mercy. Predeceased by her first husband Kenneth Maskiw and husband Peter Pasinuk. Lucy leaves to mourn her son and pillar of strength, Richard Maskiw (Sue), her precious granddogers and best new friends, Gracie and Willow, her son Danny Maskiw (Lorraine), sister-in-law and good friend Wilma Kolba, and many other family and extended family members. You know who you are and that you were all deeply loved by Lucy. Also mourning her passing are her ever-faithful friends Ron and Liz Wimbush of London, Ontario. Missing her as well is a special friend Howard Denby who gave of himself so unselfishly over the past few years when Lucy lived at the Quest Inn. Thank you, Howard. Special thanks to the staff of the Quest Inn, where Lucy spent many of her recent years. Thanks also to all of you at Oakview Place for all you did for Lucy. Our heartfelt thanks to all of our friends who have supported us at this sad time. A very special thank-you to the staff of Golden Links Lodge who knew and cared for Lucy for the past 6 months. Each and every one of you who work there touched her life in your own special way. You prepared her for her flight home, surrounding her with love, kindness, and respect for her dignity, all of which she was so greatly deserving. Lucy knew, as well did we, that she was loved by all of you and that brings us so much comfort today. She loved all of you and felt safe in your care. The smile we saw on her face each time we visited was living proof. She even made a special little friend TomKat, who will surely miss his daily dose of affection. Thank you, each and every one of you, for the support and patience you have shown to us during Lucy's stay, and especially now at this difficult time. It is appreciated more than words can say. You are all very special people, gentle souls who will never be forgotten. You gave Lucy a little taste of Heaven before her final journey home and made the road much easier for us. Good night mom and God bless. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary's Rd.
