MILDRED KOPEC

Obituary of MILDRED KOPEC

MILDRED LILLIAN KOPEC (NEE PAYJACK) AUGUST 28, 1947 – FEBRUARY 26, 2012 With profound sadness, our family announces that heaven has received its newest angel, Mildred Kopec. After a third, most brave and valiant, battle with cancer, she peacefully passed away after a loving day spent with family and friends. Mildred’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all she touched. She leaves behind a grateful family, George, husband of 44 years, son, George Jr. (Lori-Ann), daughters, Patricia & Angela, adored grandson, Jakob, and numerous extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, John & Anne Payjack, and mother-in-law, Frances Kopec. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Mildred married George in 1967 and started their lives together and raised their family in East St Paul with the loving support of their family nearby. Mildred was not only supportive of her husband’s businesses but actively involved in many aspects. Well known in the community for her volunteer efforts over numerous years in sports and recreation associations. As well Mildred enjoyed being a participant in activities from figure skating, softball, curling as well as the senior club’s activities. Everyone who knew Mildred recognized her true unselfish gift of caring and giving to others. Family meant the world to her and she would drop anything to assist any member – most notably caring for her parents in their final years. Many enjoyed the pleasure of her cooking and baking, most prominently her special perogies. She treasured her time with friends, whether chatting on the phone, going for coffee or adventures with the ‘Red Hat ladies’. One of her greatest joys was being actively involved with her grandson’s life. Mildred’s legacy of generosity, thoughtfulness and compassion will live on in our hearts and actions.
