Adriano Palumbo

Obituary of Adriano Palumbo

Adriano Palumbo (March 23, 1980 - January 31, 2010) On Sunday, January 31, 2010, our dear Adriano fell asleep in death after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother (Nicetta Palumbo), his brothers Marco (wife Erin, children Vincenzo, Savannah, Marco, Sofia), Simone (wife Cherie), and Piero (wife Antoinette), along with many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Oreste Palumbo. He left behind many friends who genuinely loved and cared for him. Adriano was born on March 23, 1980 in Winnipeg, MB. He quickly earned a nickname among the nurses: "Superman". Being born 3 months early, Adriano fought and overcame many health obstacles. As a child, he was lovable and loving, a real charmer. As many preemies are, Adriano suffered through the then little understood learning disability dyslexia. As a result, school was frustrating and difficult for him, as neither he nor his teachers knew how to harness his intelligence. Despite this potential obstacle, he developed a love of poetry and literature, along with other forms of artistic expression such as photography and music, including opera. He inherited these interests from his father, himself a lover of historical literature, classical music, and opera. Adriano believed what he read in the Bible regarding death. Jesus Christ compared death to sleep. (John 11:11-14) He took comfort in knowing that in death, he would not be conscious of anything, unaware of the passage of time. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10) These scriptures have been a source of comfort to us also. As a family, we look forward to the day when mankind's enemy, death, will be no more, and instead, be able to greet all our loved ones back from the grave. (1 Corinthians 15:26; Revelation 20:13,14; Revelation 21:4; Acts 24:15) The Palumbo family would like to thank all the hard working doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, St. Boniface Hospital, the Riverview Health Centre and many other health care professionals who did their best in assisting Adriano through these past difficult years. A memorial service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel located at 1442 Main St at 6PM Saturday, Feb 6, 2010.
