Obituary of George PALMER
GEORGE MARK PALMER
OCTOBER 20, 1926 - JULY 19, 2008 Peacefully and surrounded by his family, it is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle, George Mark Palmer, at the age of 81 years. George is lovingly remembered by his wife Olga of 60 years, his daughters Marianne (Blaine) Troup, Katherine (Dennis) Dane, grandchildren Lynda and Sheryl Troup, Kiersten Hudson and Ardal Dane, sisters Lillian Dowbenko and Ruth (Ed) Wolfe and sister-in-law Anne Palmer and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his parents John and Dorothy Palmer and his brother Stanley. George worked as an elevator maintenance man at the T. Eaton Company for 21 years and 22 years at the Health Sciences Centre, retiring in 1991. George was a quiet man and his family was always first in his life, especially his much loved grandchildren who he was so very proud. He loved special times at the beach or just getting in the car for a Sunday drive to anywhere and took pride in working in his yard until his declining health. He was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was a Honourary member of C.P.A.C. where he served as the Treasurer for many years. He really enjoyed his time on the C.P.A.C. Bowling League and working at the Monday night Bingo where he made lifelong friends. Many thanks to all the caregivers in the I.C.U. and Ward 3, Unit 6, of the Seven Oaks Hospital for their excellent care and compassion during the last two months. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Avenue (parking off College Avenue). An online book of condolences may be signed at www.cropo.com We will always love you and miss you and hold you forever in our hearts and know you are now at peace with God. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Building Fund, 965 Boyd Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2X 0Z9 or a charity of your choice.
