Marion was born December 14, 1946 in Northwestern Ontario. Marion is survived by her four children, Darren McDougall, Teresa Oster, Tim Oster and girlfriend Delaney, and Terry (Ted) Oster; her brother Comber McDougall and wife Margaret; her sister Mary Jane Kakepetum and husband Halum; her step mom, Annie McDougall and stepbrothers and stepsisters. She was predeceased by her parents, Jonas McDougall and Agnes (Rae) McDougall, her brother Jack, her sister Georgina and grandson Timothy McDougall. Marion was from Garden Hill First Nations. As a young child, Marion was disenfranchised from her culture, family and people due to the Canadian Residential School system. Later in life Marion reconnected with her traditional Aboriginal roots and culture. In her mid 20s, Marion relocated to Fort Frances where she wed Terry Oster and cherished her time spent raising her family in Northwest Ontario. She also treasured her time spent with her adoptive family along with her friendship with her father-in-law George Oster. Marion will also be remembered for her love for her work as a social worker and her love of cooking. Family and friends were everything to Marion; she embraced and cherished every moment as a gift. Marion's personality, humour and warmth had touched so many people throughout the years and the proof of this is in the positive memories her name evokes in the people who had the fortune to experience a conversation with her. Service to celebrate Marion's life was held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Cropo Funeral Chapel in Winnipeg, MB. Should family and friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or by online donation at www.diabetes.ca.
