Obituary of Stan OLINKIN

STAN OLINKIN 1932 - 2009 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Stan Olinkin on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the age of 77. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and many dear friends. Stan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; son David (Frances) of Jasper and children Dane and Teslin; daughter Sandy (Todd) Tschosik and son Zachary of Bismarck, ND; sister Joyce Peleshaty and family of Jasper; brother Ron (Stella) Olinkin and family of Transcona; numerous relatives and friends. Stan is predeceased by his parents Walter and Mary Olinkin. Stan was born April 20, 1932 in Winnipeg and attended Norquay and St. John's High School. He married Betty in 1957. Stan started a career at CNR as an apprentice machinist and retired as a supervisor in 1991 after 41 years of service. Stan was an enthusiastic duck hunter and loved the outdoors and wildlife; as a result he spent many happy days at his trailer at Riverton and then Twin Pines with family and friends. His hobbies were too many to mention, however whatever project he undertook, he did so with perfection. Dad was very proud of his children and grandchildren and treasured his time with family. He enjoyed many winter vacations with his wife, relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's memory to a charity of your choice.
