Obituary of Walter NIVEN
WALTER WILLIAM NIVEN
Peacefully in the early morning of Friday, August 7, 2009 at his home Walter Niven, beloved husband of Alice of St. Andrews, passed away 3 days prior to his 69th birthday.
Besides his wife Alice with whom he shared 39 years, he is survived by their only daughter Kimberley and husband David, as well as 3 adoring grandsons Dylan-14, Conrad-7 and Nicholas-4. "We will miss Papa, please rest." He is also survived by many relatives, friends and a sister Olga (Barry) Morwick.
He was predeceased by his parents Adam and Katherine Niewierkowiec.
Water was born on August 10, 1940 in Winnipeg. He was employed 44 years for Sears. He was so dedicated to his job that he never missed a day of work.
One of his many great passions in life was his music, which began at age 6 playing the accordion. He had a unique style that no one could compare. Over the years, he played with many different bands. He loved to watch the crowd dance to the music.
Walter had incredible patience and never complained despite the challenges he faced with his health.
Daddy I'm going to miss all your advice you've given me throughout the years. I know you always worried about me and your 3 grandsons. Please don't, this is your time to rest. The second part of your journey is just beginning. I am so PROUD to call you my DADDY. I will always do my best to make you proud. David and I promise to take care of Mom and your grandsons for you. We will miss your hugs, your smiles, sense of humour and our long talks together. You will always be in all our hearts. Words cannot express how much we love and miss you and always will. Daddy we can go on, because your spirit lives on in your grandsons. You were a proud PAPA.
This is not good-bye; we will be together again, someday.
The family would like to thank Dr. R. Krocker. A very special thank you to the pallbearers. Also everyone who came out to support and comfort us. Also thanks to Very Rev. John Melnyk for his care and compassion. Funeral Services took place already.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
