Obituary of Mary Muzychka (SENIUK)

Peacefully on September 3, 2009 Mary passed away at Holy Family Nursing Home. Born in the Ukraine to Wasyl and Dora Seniuk, Mom came to Canada in 1913. Predeceased by her husband David, daughter Doris Ball, grandson Paul Jeffrey Knight,son-in-law Jeffrey Knight and all of her siblings - Annie, John, Katie, Alexina, Nick, Eva, Mike, Steve, Harry, Peter, Billy, and Rose. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Elaine Knight, granddaughters Tara Ciecko (Jeff), Trina Knight; great granddaughter Kate Knight and many nieces and nephews. After her marriage to David in 1931, they built a house in Narol where she resided until 1999. Mom had many talents. She was a beautiful seamstress and in her early years made shirts out of bleached flour bags. Later she sewed dresses and suits which I proudly wore to work. She also knitted and crocheted and did many crafts. She was a founding member of the Narol Golden Age Club, where she and Dad had a great time socializing and making crafts. Mom was also an avid gardener. Not only did Mom and Dad grow vegetables to sell at the market and share with family, she also had beautiful flower gardens surrounding the house and inside looked like a greenhouse. Mom loved all nature and would feed "her" birds and squirrels summer and winter. She was a great cook and baker and loved to have company. Whenever anyone would drop by for a visit, they had to have a cup of tea and a goody. Mom was gifted with a beautiful voice . Although she never took formal lessons she sang like a songbird, as the staff of St. Mary's unit at Holy Family can attest to. A very grateful thank you to all the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home, especially the loving, compassionate girls on St. Mary's unit who looked after Mom these past nine years. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with viewing beginning at noon. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may make a donation in Mom's memory to Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave. Winnipeg, R2W 1T9 or a charity of your choice. Sing with the angels Mom.
