Obituary of Lorraine MULVIHILL

LORRAINE BEVERLY MULVIHILL ( nee Leslie) It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our wife, mother, and Baba; Lorraine Mulvihill at the age of 67. After a brief illness with cancer, she passed away peacefully on the morning of May 1, 2009 at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband Dan; daughters Cheryl (Wayne) Gagnon and Kelly (Randy) McHolm; grandchildren Derek, Brett, Kristen, Kyle and Kelsey. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Sophie Leslie. Lorraine was born and raised in the North End of Winnipeg, and attended Cecil Rhodes and Tec Voc High School, where she met her husband of 47 years. Her first job was at Canadian Rogers, until she left to raise her two daughters. She then returned to the work force as a bookkeeper, until she decided to retire to be with her grandchildren. Lorraine was a long time member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she was involved in the parents' committee and was the director of Ukrainian dancing for many years. In addition, Lorraine and Dan were also very involved with ringette and baseball with Sinclair Park Community Centre. Lorraine and her family enjoyed traveling to many places, but the last 15 years consisted of one of her favorite destinations at the family cabin on Glen Bay. Long summer days included cooking her favorite meals for her dear family and sitting around the fire late at night. Baba's greatest joy was attending all her grandchildren's sporting activities, always proudly cheering them on. Her most recent enjoyment has been the addition of the two family pet dogs, Reebok and Toby. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of the 5th Floor, Unit 4, at Seven Oaks General Hospital. A special Thank You goes out to Dr. Julie Lamb, for all her guidance and support through these difficult times. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church at 737 Bannerman Ave. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception in the church basement. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment to follow reception. If so desired, donations may be made out to the CancerCare Foundation. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT
