Obituary of Effie Mospanchuk
Effie Mospanchuk (nee Kopytko) 1936-2009
On September 27, our beloved mother/grandmother, Effie Mospanchuk, passed on to find eternal peace at the age of 73. She chose a significant date to leave this earth as eighteen years ago to the day, her husband, Tony, passed away. God sent dad down to get mom. If you knew mom, you knew love, kindness and caring.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Cory (Angela) Mospanchuk, her daughter, Carmel (Wayne) Antonishin, her grandchildren, Cole, Brooke, Reese and Kaelin, her sisters Mary Tereck, Aileen Ross, Doreen (Ron) Dilk, sister-in-law Lil and brothers Walter (Julie), Peter (Janet), Ernie (Shirley) and Joey (Karen) Kopytko as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In heaven sharing hugs and laughs are her husband Tony, her parents Irene and John Kopytko, her sisters Olga (Walter) Chrustie, Katie (Steve) Tereck, Annie (Joe) Henowicz and brothers William at birth, Henry, Fred and John Kopytko as well as brothers-in-law Fred Tereck and Leonard Ross.
Mom enjoyed tending to her house and garden, watching her favourite television talk shows/dramas and cooking (she made the best cabbage rolls ever!), but most of all, she loved to care for and about her children and grandchildren, taking more pride in our well being and accomplishments than we could ever have asked for. We will miss her constant love and support, but take comfort in knowing that she will be watching over us from heaven as she did here on earth.
Effie's funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue with Rev. Father Isidore Dziadyk OSBM as the celebrant. Interment will take place in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
We would like to thank mom's family and friends for surrounding her with love and compassion during her lengthy battle with cancer. We'd also like to thank the staff at Shaftesbury Park and Riverview Palliative Care for ensuring mom was cared for with dignity.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Effie's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
