SUSAN PHYLLIS KUSHKA

Obituary of SUSAN PHYLLIS KUSHKA

SUSAN PHYLLIS KUSHKA With love we cherish the beautiful memory of Susan Phyllis, dearly loved wife, mother and grandmother who entered into eternal rest on February 22, 2012. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Walter whom she married in 1956 and remained happily married to for over 55 years until her passing; sons Brian and Chris (Mary); grandsons Stefan and Rylan whom she loved dearly; and relatives in Canada and Western Ukraine. Susan was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1933, she was an only child to Alex and Wanda Prosolowski. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1950 and commenced employment with the Canadian Wheat Board. In 1962, she chose to become a stay at home mom to care for her precious family and parents. She was a wonder in the kitchen, not only preparing everyday meals but also very delicious cakes and cookies. She was able to whip up traditional Ukrainian dishes for those special occasions. She also had a passion for sewing and especially needlepoint where she created many works of art on her own or with Walter, many of which are still in our homes to this day. In the summer, her hobby was gardening. She had reason to be very proud of her flowers as many people compared them to those found in Winnipeg's beautiful parks. Susan and Walter enjoyed many trips throughout Canada and trips to California, Florida, Hawaii, Las Vegas and Mexico returning to each of them several times. They also had the opportunity to visit family in the Western Ukraine on a couple of occasions. They never forgot about their extended family in the Ukraine and assisted them in any way possible, even welcoming them into their home on several occasions. Susan was a devout parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and a past member of the U.C.W.L. She gave a helping hand at Church functions until her health began to fail. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue with Father Isidore Dziadyk, O.S.B.M. officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Special thanks to Father Isidore Dziadyk and Father Bohdan Lukie and everyone who visited her as well as her family doctor, Terry Babick, and the doctors, nurses and health aides at the Seven Oaks General Hospital who cared for her over the last 11months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Maintenance Fund or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Dear Susan, I know that I won't forget you for I've loved you too much for too long and although you are now gone I'll still love you until the breath in my body is gone. That's how it is with me and you'll always be the only love that I've ever known. I'll forget many things in my lifetime but my darling I won't forget you. Love Wally. VICHNAYA PAM’YAT Forever remembered by her family
