Obituary of Maria MOREIRA
MARIA DE JESUS MOREIRA
With her family by her side on April 2, 2008, Maria passed away at the age of 72 at Riverview Health Centre.
Maria is survived by her sister Emilia (Jose) Pereira; niece Lucy (Luis) Soares; nephew Jose Manuel Pereira all of Winnipeg; brothers Antonio (Maria Melo) Moreira and Manuel (Maria) Moreira; niece Zelia Moreira; nephews Jose (Rosane) Moreira, Antonino Moreira all of Hartford, Conn.; step sister Helen (Angelo) Luis; niece Goretti Costa; nephew and Godson John (Carla) Luis all of Cambridge, ON
She was predeceased by her parents Antonino Soares Moreira and Maria Soares Moura.
Maria was born on January 19, 1936 in Santa Maria, Acores and came to Winnipeg in 1973 where she lived with her sister Emilia and family. She was a very loving and giving person with a lot of spiritual faith. Maria taught Sunday school in Portugal and Winnipeg. Her favourite hobbies were crocheting and spending time with loved ones.
We would like thank Maria's family doctor, Dr. Fuzeta and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital where Maria was for 5 months. Thanks also to the staff at 2 West at Riverview Health Centre where Maria stayed for 2 years and 4 months for all their compassionate care. Many thanks to all the family and friends who gave prayers and kind words to Maria and her extended family during this difficult time.
Prayers will be said on Friday, April 4 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. with Very Rev. Jos� Eduardo Medeiros, V.F. officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H. as Celebrant. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
