STEFANIA MISIEWICZ (nee Burger) Peacefully, on October 21, 2010, Stefania Misiewicz passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital with close family and friends by her side. Stefania was 87. She was predeceased by loving husband John (1984), son Stan (1994), son-in-law Bill (2007), parents Julia and John, brothers Stefan and Michael, and sisters Helen, Nusia and Mila. Keeping her memory alive in their hearts and memories are daughter Dana, daughter-in-law and husband Beatrice and Dennis Buzahora, and grandchildren John, Sandee and James, sister Josephine and brother-in-law Max from Ottawa, nieces Julia and Alice, nephew Andrew and families, niece Frances, Margaret, Jason and family, niece Chris Sowa, as well as numerous other relatives in Canada and Poland. Stefania was born April 20, 1923 in Kalusz, Poland. In 1939, as a result of the invasion of Poland, Stefania's family was forced out of Poland where they were taken to Siberia where they lived in an underground home until she and her father enlisted in the Polish Army. Stefania was a proud WWII Veteran, having served in the Woman's Polish Army as a nurse in Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Egypt, Italy and finally as a telephone operator in England. She served God and her community as a longstanding parishioner at Holy Ghost Church and as a member of the Polish Combatants Club 13 and the Royal Canadian Legion. Stefania's passion was her home, her children and her grandchildren that she loved deeply. She loved to cook, work in her garden and she loved her flowers. She enjoyed her trips to Poland, Florida and Hawaii. Those who knew her respected her independent spirit, generosity and how hard working she was. They will also know how deeply she will be missed. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and care providers at St Joseph's Residence and at Seven Oaks Hospital. Thank-you to everyone else who shared her friendship and provided help when needed. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father as Celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dennis Buzahora, John Buzahora, James Buzahora, Glen Wilson, Ron Monds and Rod Walters. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Stefania's memory to Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church. "Wieczny odpoczynek racz jej dac Panie."
