Obituary of Jean McKENNY

JEAN McKENNY It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jean McKenny on May 13, 2008 at the age of 63, at her home, surrounded by her family. Jean is survived by her sons Derrick (Jackie) and Robert (Ruth), her grandchildren Jordon, Tayler, Robert Jr. and new granddaughter Jean. She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Maria Josyfowycz. Jean came to Canada with her parents in 1951, and settled in Winnipeg. She spent several years in the customer service industry before choosing to return to college in 1992 to become a Health Care Attendant. Jean enjoyed her work, and was a dedicated employee with Winnipeg Regional Health Authority until she became ill. Jean was a proud member of the Antique Association, happily going to the monthly meetings. One of Jean's favorite activities was attending yard sales and flea markets. She was fondly known to us as the garage sale lady. Jean was a true friend, a wise and dedicated mother, and a wonderful Grandmother. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and volunteers of the CancerCare Centre in the HSC for their gentle and attentive care to Jean, and a sincere thank you to Dr. B. Schacter, Nurse Sharon and the palliative care team. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
