Obituary of Susan Mazur
Susan Mazur
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our much loved mother and grandmother at the age of 85 years. She passed away peacefully on December 16th, 2010 with her sons by her side.
She is survived by her children Ted (Mary-Anne) and Frank; her grandsons Nick, Jordan and Nathan; her brother Edward (Mary) Szczepanski and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter, her parents Casimer and Zuzanna, her brothers Michael and Mitch, and sister Janina.
Susan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put the needs of her family ahead of her own. She was a Christian woman whose devotion to her family was only matched by her faith in God. She was a longtime parishioner at St. John Cantius Church.
Susan was born in Poland on September 22nd, 1925. At the beginning of the Second World War she, along with her family, were taken from their home and sent to Russia. She later made her way to India, where she spent the next few years continuing her education as best she could. At the end of the war, she immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, where she met her husband Walter. They were married in 1949, and had a very long and happy life together. In her later years, she loved to spend time at the cottage with her family, picking mushrooms and feeding the birds. She loved gardening and cooking, especially making chicken soup and perogies for her grandsons. Susan also loved to tell stories about her long and fascinating life.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital Emergency Unit for their care and compassion.
Prayers will be said on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.on December 22nd, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. with Rev. Fr. Yolando Gamallo officiating.
