Obituary of Marion MAYER

MARION MAYER After a lengthy illness, Marion's journey ended in the Garden of God. Her death came peacefully, in her sleep during the early hours of June 1, 2009 at Donwood Manor. Marion was the youngest of seven children and was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Karoline Mayer, sisters Elizabeth Reichardt, Caroline Huhn, Magdalene Toth, and brother Michael Mayer. She is survived by sisters Anna Dundas and Julia Mayer, numerous nieces and nephews in British Columbia, Ontario, Minnesota and New Zealand. Marion was born and raised in Winnipeg and for a time lived in Toronto. She loved being with people, was kind to all animals, enjoyed music, travelling, the outdoors and lunch at the Bay with the MacDonalds. Illness in her later years were difficult but she had a strong spirit and was determined to live and enjoy each day as best she cold. The family would like to thank the staff on 2nd floor South at Donwood Manor for the kind and compassionate care she needed and received for the short time she was there. Also thanks to Roy and Marion Park for being good neighbours. A special thanks to Anna Dundas, nephews Michael Mayer, Frank Reichardt and nieces Ida Backman and Susan Budd for their help and care at this time.. Prayers will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. We may walk a desert pathway but the end of the journey is the Garden of God. Dearest Marion we loved you and will miss you very much. Que Dios os Bendiga.
