Obituary of HELEN DUDYCH
HELEN DUDYCH
[Drozda]
Sorrowfully we regret to announce that our beloved Mother, Mother-in-law and Baba, Helen Dudych passed suddenly into the presence of our Blessed Saviour on Sunday, February 19, 2012.
Helen is now reunited with her beloved husband Peter and her family in God’s keeping, her dear parents Adam and Annie Drozda.
Our Mom was the only daughter born to Adam and Annie Drozda on October 23, 1935. She was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg. She married Peter Dudych on May 19, 1956. They resided in Elmwood, East Kildonan and most recently at Concordia Village.
Helen’s first job after graduating was as a clerk typist. During the 1960’s Helen enjoyed her time at home and lovingly raised her three children. In the 1970’s Helen returned to the work force and made many friends at the data centers at The Bay and Eaton’s.
As a young wife and mother Helen entered contests regularly and delighted in winning very often. Bingo was one of Helen’s favorite pastimes that she shared with her grandchildren and more recently with her friends at Concordia Village. It was part of Helen’s unique personality to remember and acknowledge birthdays and anniversaries with a card, kind wishes and a carefully chosen photo. She was passionate about taking photos to record life’s precious moments.
She had a tremendously warm, loving and happy disposition. Helen proudly instilled her Catholic religious faith and her Ukrainian heritage. Being a Baba to her 7 precious grandchildren was her greatest joy.
Helen leaves in deep sadness her children Theresa [Ed Shyka], Elaine [Brian Scammell] and Richard [Odette]; her cherished grandchildren, Adam, Rebecca and Dylan, Carley and Michelle, Danielle and Alysha. Also bereaved are her cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law along with her special nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the staff at Concordia Village and Mom’s close circle of friends there, for the wonderful memories that our mother treasured dearly.
Helen has left the beautiful legacy of giving unconditional love to all who knew her.
