Casimiro Marques

Obituary of Casimiro Marques

Casimiro Teixeira Marques With great sadness, we announce the passing of Casimiro Teixeira Marques husband, father, uncle, great-uncle, godfather, and friend on April 30, 2011. Casimiro was predeceased by his parents Jos Joaquim Marques and Maria Albertina Teixeira, brother Antonio (Alzira), sister Ana (Manuel), and brother Manuel (Rosa). He is survived by his wife Ana and daughter Maria Josie, his brother Joo (Ilda), sisters Rosalina; Constana (Joo); and Conceio (Julio), and countless nephews; nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces. Casimiro came to Canada from Portugal in 1959, to make a better life for his family. He worked every job possible traveling Canada from east to west and into the Northwest Territories. He settled in Winnipeg where he worked for Versatile until his retirement. Life for him was about family and friends. If the phone actually rang when you called, it was because he was out visiting family and friends; otherwise you would get a busy signal for hours on end while he spoke to family and friends. Since his retirement, he and Ana travelled to Portugal yearly dividing their time between his place of birth Revel, Portugal and Santa Maria, Azores. We are grateful for everything he did for us and the friendships he made that have always provided support and comfort to us. Beijinhos e um grande abrao. A celebration of Casimiro's life will be held on Monday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster, interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider signing an organ donor card. Casimiro was touched by stories of those needing transplants and nothing would make him happier than to know his family and friends chose to honour his memory this way.
