Obituary of Victor Makarski
VICTOR MAKARSKI
It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we regretfully announce the passing of our father Victor Makarski on May 27, 2010 at 2:25 p.m. at Seven Oaks Hospital.
After a valiant battle with cancer, he leaves to mourn his daughters Diana (Groves) and Vicki (Kostanski), sons-in-law Michael Kostanski and Edward E. Yuzak. He leaves behind his grandchildren Jennifer Li, Adam Groves, Steven and Mike Kostanski as well as his great grandchildren Jordan Li and Lauren Li and the newest family addition Edward (Eddie) Groves.
Dad started his life in Canada as a post war immigrant settling temporarily in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where his met his future wife Genevieve Lis. Victor and Genevieve settled in Winnipeg for the remainder of their married years living mostly on Redwood Avenue in the North End of Winnipeg. He worked for Abitibi Pulp and Paper Mill for many years as a lumberjack and heavy equipment operator. He retired in 1988. Dad's remaining years were spent living at the Canadian Polish Manor. Dad was predeceased by our mother Genevieve in 1999.
Our dad will be remembered for his wry sense of humour, generosity, fierce sense of independence and his love of life and a good card game.
Many sincere thanks to the staff on the 5th floor, Unit 7 at Seven Oaks Hospital for their patience and care of our father during a very challenging time. Your professionalism and compassion will never be forgotten.
Dad we will miss you terribly, may peace be with you. Your loving daughters, Vicki and Diana.
