John MACYSHYN

Obituary of John MACYSHYN

JOHN MACYSHYN Peacefully on July 13, 2009, John passed away at the age of 86 years at Tuxedo Villa. John was born in Rossburn, Manitoba on May 12, 1923. He attended Glen Elmo School. He worked for many years at Simmons Bedding. John was involved with the Blessed Virgin Mary Sports and Wildlife Club and always gave a "helping hand" to whoever needed it. John could be seen daily going to Garden City in his truck and later his car to have lunch and visit with friends. He always had a joke for you and was a "happy go lucky" person. Every night his coffee buddies would pick him up and off they would go to Robin's Doughnuts. He looked forward to it. They would leave and occasionally go to the casino. John loved to gamble and faithfully purchased Lotto 6-49 tickets. Occasionally he would go with various church members by bus to the States to gamble. He always had fun. John and Mildred always had their doors open to everyone. Unfortunately John and Mildred never had children, but they were Auntie and Uncle to everyone. We took our turn living at their place and they leave us today with many happy memories, which we will cherish. Predeceased by his parents, Anton and Mary Macyshyn, wife Mildred, siblings Olga (John) Ewanchuk, Kay (Mike) Pushka, Ann (Stan) Duczminski, Mary (John) Prodan, Mike (Betty) Macyshyn, Nellie (John) Hrabec, brothers and sister in-law, Wally Pratt, Bill Mankir, Mike and Nettie Verbowski, Bert Gensorek, father and mother-in-law, Leon and Rose Gensorek. John is survived by brother Peter and Sophie Matyshyn and sister Pauline Pratt, sister-in-law Lorna Mankir and brother-in-law Ken Gensorek and many nieces and nephews - too many to mention. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Tuxedo Villa (Station 2) for the last thirteen months of wonderful care you all gave John. He always appreciated what you did for him. Prayers will be held on Friday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. with Rev. Fr. Volodymyr Bashutskyy officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
