Obituary of Anne LITVINCHUK
ANNE LITVINCHUK
It is with great sadness that the family of Anne Litvinchuk (nee Bobby) announces her passing on Monday, April 6, 2009, at the age of 90 years. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ruby (Walter) Mucz, and sons Walter (Kathy), Leonard, and Bill (Christine). Anne will also be fondly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, sisters Mary Yaschuk, Olga (Wyman) Williamson, Lillian (Clifford) Lockhart, and sister-in-law Ann Bobby. Anne was predeceased by her son Richard, husband Walter, daughter-in-law Carol and brother John. Anne was born on March 28, 1919 in Western Ukraine to George and Christine Bobby and moved to Canada with her parents and younger sister in 1927. She grew up on a farm and attended school in the Bowmore District north of Biggar Saskatchewan. In 1937 she met and married Walter Litvinchuk who worked for the CPR. They spent the next four years in communities on the CPR line west of Saskatoon and then took up farming at Durban, Manitoba in 1940. In 1961, they moved to Winnipeg where Anne lived until her death.
Anne was a wonderful homemaker and talented at many crafts. She was very active and successful in horticultural activities in her community until her debilitating stroke at the age of 80. Even after her stroke, she maintained her interest in horticulture. Sincere thanks to the staff at Donwood Manor for the excellent home that they provided and the love that they had for Anne.
A Funeral Service in Memory of Anne will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 10:00 a.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB with Chaplain Wanda Derksen officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Drive or the charity of one's choice.
