After working 24 years for the City of Winnipeg he decided to retire in 1982, in a capacity of professional projects engineer on a variety of different construction projects like enclosed swimming pools, indoor hockey arenas, fire halls, new police stations, city libraries and many other projects. During his retirement, Sevir enjoyed numerous fishing, hunting and mushroom gathering adventures with Sylvia and friends. He also enjoyed his time at his cottage at Victoria Beach. He loved entertaining and hosting large and frequent dinner parties where he would accompany his musician friends on his drums or accordion. His happiest moments were spending time with his grandchildren and bragging about them to all that would listen.
