ANNE LEWICKI (nee Kowalchuk) 14 August 1920 - 6 April 2011 It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Anne Lewicki following a courageous battle with cancer at Riverview Health Centre. Left to mourn her loss are husband Joseph; sons Ken and Don (Bev); grandsons Jeff (Keri), Kevin (fiance Anna) and great grandchildren Sidney and Jackson; and also brother Steve (Esther); sister Rose; brother-in-law Morris (Helen. Anne was predeceased by her parents Peter and Pauline; sisters Jean and Marie and brother Bill. Mom and Dad were married in 1949. They purchased their life long home in West Kildonan in 1950. Mom was a model homemaker, loving wife and mother who cared greatly for family, friends and neighbours. She always had a smile or a hello for all who passed by. She loved to go all out for those who visited and one could never say they were not offered hospitality at her home. Mom was a great cook and baker who also loved tending to her garden. One of Mom's most cherished memories was when she and Dad went to Europe with the Taylor's. Grandma always looked forward to spending quality time with her precious grandsons and recently enjoyed the antics and smiles of her great grandchildren. Mom became a hairdresser later in life and also enjoyed working at Willson's Stationary. The family wishes to thank the caring staffs of Home Care and Riverview Health Centre Palliative care ward 3E for their care and compassion for mom and her family. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Mom's request, there will be a private family inurnment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg MB R3L 0K6 or to CancerCare Manitoba, Box 2248, Stn. Main Winnipeg MB R3C 4A6. You touched our hearts in so many ways, your smile so bright even on the bad days. You heard God's whisper calling you home, you didn't want to go and leave us alone. You loved us so much, you held on tight, till all the strength was gone and you could no longer fight. He had called your name once before, you knew you couldn't make him wait anymore. So you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away, knowing that with our love we will be together again some day. We love you Mom, Rest In Peace.
