Joseph LAROCQUE

Obituary of Joseph LAROCQUE

JOSEPH "ORVILLE" LAROCQUE Suddenly on May 30, 2009 at Grace Hospital, our friend , Orville Larocque passed away. We had only known Orville for a few short years but his smile, enthusiasm and gentle nature will keep him in our hearts. Born in 1934, Orville spent most of his adult life in the Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage La Prairie where he established a wonderful friendship with Shelley Beam as well as many of the other staff and residents there. In July of 2006, Orville was thrilled to move to his new home on Emerald Grove in Winnipeg and become part of the Visions of Independence family. It was here that he experienced his first restaurant meal, his first bus ride and Halloween Costume Party. All were an exciting taste of his new life in the community. Despite his limited vision, Orville enjoyed movies, shopping , music and the opportunity to engage in French conversation. Orville leaves behind one sister, Eva Larocque of Ste. Rose du Lac, roommates Ivan and Jim, dear friends Shelley Beam and Sherry Buchanon, the staff of Emerald Grove and all the residents of Visions. Should friends so desire, donations in Orville's memory may be made to the Manitoba Marathon, c/o Community Living Manitoba #6-120 Maryland St R3G 1L1 Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 2:00 pm. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
