Obituary of Mary KUNDEL

MARY (MINNIE) KUNDEL (nee Kulbaba) It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and sister, Mary (Minnie) Kundel on January 25, 2009 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 88. Mom was predeceased by her husband Alex, son Raymond, parents Pearl and Marco Kulbaba, sisters: Lena, Dorothy, Evelyn & Ada, brothers: Mike & Harold, Brothers-in-law: Fred, Harry, Peter. She is survived by her sons: Ralph (Pat) and Richard (Lynne), her daughter in-law Diane Froese, sister Myrna (Al) and grandchildren, Todd, Donna, Christopher, Christie & Corrina, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Sandhill, Manitoba on February 25, 1920. She attended school there and came to Winnipeg in 1937, where she ultimately met her husband Alex and they were married in 1939. They raised 3 sons while living in Winnipeg's north end and then laterally in East Kildonan. She worked for Eaton's for 16 years and then went back to school, getting an accounting certificate, and worked for Jos. St. Mars for 10 years. She was an active member of the Independent Order of Foresters and held many positions on the executive. Mom and Dad travelled to Ukraine on a couple of occasions, as well as touring Europe, and were constantly going to Montreal or Vancouver to visit family. After dad's passing in 1986 mom spent numerous winters in Florida. Special thanks to Dr. Carl Duerksen, the staff of Concordia Hospital and the people of her residence at Kildonan House for the care and attention afforded her. Prayers will be held on Thursday January 29, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. As per mom's wishes her cremated remains will be interred at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB. R3L 0K6. Rest in Peace, Mom.
