Obituary of Janet Kostyshen
JANET EILEEN KOSTYSHEN
With great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and wife peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Boniface Hospital on October 4, 2010.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 41 years, Dave, her daughter Jody Quilty and son-in-law Gary, her daughter Dawn Sorochan and finance Dean, grandsons Dylan Quilty and Bryce Quilty and the family dog Byngo.
She was predeceased by her dad, Steve, in 1976 and her mom, Sophie, in 2003.
Mom had many passions but the first were her grandsons. When they were little she would take them to playplace, the park and shared her love of shopping with them.
After her mom passed away, she made the farm her dream and fixed it up to leave her legacy to Dylan and Bryce.
Mom enjoyed many car trips with Dad, especially to the Rocky Mountains. They often took long drives together, which she enjoyed immensely.
Mom was our Martha Stewart. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing and baking. She took cake-decorating courses, and baked the most beautiful cakes for Dylan and Bryce for their birthdays.
Mom will be sorrowfully mourned by her daughter, Dawn and finance Dean. She will be remembered most for her deep devotion to her family for her grace, vitality, and strength as well as her zest for life and all the moments it gave her.
Mom's life was full of loving thoughtfulness, giving us the most precious memories a mom could give her daughter and finance. She carried herself through life and sickness with strength, dignity and class that we can only strive to achieve. We will remember her fondly as our heroine in our life.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank-you to the staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit, especially Colette, who was there for all the family in our time of need.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 7:00 PM and the Funeral Service will be on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM, both at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Human Society.
