He will forever be missed by his daughter Marina, son-in-law Josip and his cherished and beloved grandsons Kevin and Christopher. He is also survived by sister-in-law Milka Bogović of Croatia; brother Nikola (Dragica) Bogović of Australia; brother Milan (Anka) Bogović of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Mirko (Dragica) Cindrić of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Marija (Mike) Maršić of Summerland, B.C.; brother-in-law Pero (Barbara) Cindrić of Vancouver, B.C. and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members throughout Canada, the United States, Australia and Croatia.
Josip Bogović was born on December 8, 1934 in Cetinski Varoš, Cetingrad, Croatia. Born to a large family just before the Second World War childhood was difficult and matter of survival. He grew to be a young resilient man who would always dream of better things for his family and his own life as well as continue to support the family throughout his life. At a young age of 16, he left his home in search of work in the nearby city of Karlovac. There he married his beloved wife Dragica and started a family of his own. They lived in Karlovac for a number of years until eventually in 1971 a decision was reached to leave their homeland and unite with brother-in-law Pero (Barbara) in Winnipeg. Life continued in this vast country of Canada. Josip respected his new home and many good things it provided, however throughout his life in Canada he always longed for his birthplace and homeland. He never lost the connection with his many close and extended family members. A legacy he left for his daughter, son-in-law and beloved grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Kevin and Christopher Marincil, Nikola and Ivan Bogoviċ, Pero Cindriċ, Peter and Marijan Marincil.
The family would like to express great thanks for the wonderful care and source of support provided by Dr. C. Duerksen and the staff of 2 South Donwood Personal Care Home.
