GEORGE KLOS It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather George Klos on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Concordia Hospital after a lengthy illness. George is survived by his wife Ludmila (Lucy) of 57 years, two children Victoria Thornton of Calgary, AB and Erik (Holly) and granddaughter Megan. He also is survived by relatives in Ukraine. George was born May 11, 1921 in Lubachow, Poland. He was a very religious, private and hard-working man. He came to Canada after World War II and settled in Winnipeg. George started working in the furrier business and then retired at the age of 65 from the maintenance department at the University of Manitoba. He enjoyed home life, his garden, reading books, love of music and taking Fine Arts classes. George belonged to Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church for over 50 years and enjoyed singing in the choir. We are very grateful to his caring church community. George was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease and most recently resided at Holy Family Nursing Home on Aberdeen Ave. We would like to thank the nurses and especially David for their continued efforts and compassionate care. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul, Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion St. Following the reception interment will take place in All Saints Cemetery.
