Edward KEACH

Obituary of Edward KEACH

EDWARD JAMES KEACH The family of Edward James Keach sadly announce his sudden passing on March 24, 2009. Edward is survived by his beloved wife Edith, his children and their spouses Janie (Randy), Susan (John), Greg (Christy), Alana (Chris), and his grandchildren: Nathaniel, Bethany (Guy), Brandon, Scott, Haley and Owen. Edward is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth and Joyce (Florian) and his brother Richard (Linda). Edward was predeceased by his father Edward Thomas in 1966 and his mother Mary (Polly) in 2005. Edward was born on May 28, 1932 in Winnipeg. Ed lived in Winnipeg, Libau, Mahone Bay (NS), and eventually settled back in Winnipeg in the Elmwood area. Edward and Edith married May 22, 1954, remaining in the Elmwood area to raise their family. Edward joined the Winnipeg Fire Department on September 23, 1957, and proudly retired on April 18, 1993, as Captain after 35 years on continuous service. Edward was both a passionate craftsman and fisherman in his younger years as well as a very qualified "fix-it" guy. He loved spending time with his family, quietly doing puzzles or reading, and spending time solving the world's problems with his buddies at the LaSalle Hotel. The family wishes to thank Ed's friends at the LaSalle Hotel, the Winnipeg Fire Department and the Paramedic Service, as well as the Winnipeg Fire Department Support Group for their assistance during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. The family gratefully declines flowers, but would appreciate a donation in Edward's memory to the Firefighters Burn Fund.
