MARLENE ELIZABETH JORGENSON December 31, 1955-October 2, 2008 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Marlene is survived by her husband Doug Bird; mother Pamela Linklater (Lorne); sisters Heather (Harry) Panaschuk, Karen (Edward) Lemaire, and Sandra (Brian) Hnatiuk; brothers-in-law Brian (Judy) Bird, Randy (Marilyn) Bird; sister-in-law Kim (Michel) Perron; nieces and nephews Cara (Craig), David, Jennifer (Todd), Jeremy, Jill, Allison, (Tristan), Michael, Allison, Donnie (Keely), Jennifer, Samantha and Alex; great nieces and nephews Blake, Ethan, Chlo and Bront as well extended family and many dear friends. Marlene was predeceased by her father, Barney Jorgenson (1993), father-in-law Cameron (1992), mother-in-law Thelma (2006) and sister-in-law Barbara (2001). Marlene was a talented graphic designer who enjoyed her recent position as a production manager for Palliser Furniture. She was hardworking, dedicated and took great pride in her work. She served as a role model for many people in her life who admired her artistic skills, creativity and professionalism. Many of these same qualities were evident throughout her previous career choices. Marlene's greatest quality was her unique personality and sense of humour. She was feisty, strong willed, and definitely had a "mind of her own", qualities which served her well throughout her lifetime. At the same time she always had a big smile and a warm hug for everyone and her contagious laugh will be remembered by those who knew her. Marlene maintained and nurtured countless friendships which she always valued and treasured. Warm, thoughtful, caring, loyal and generous: that was Marlene. She did everything she could to show how much she cared for the people around her, and we were all blessed with her unconditional love. Marlene was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, auntie and friend. We will love her forever and miss her today, tomorrow, and always. A celebration of life service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.cropo.com.
