Obituary of Raymond JESTADT
RAYMOND HERBERT JESTADT
1932-2010
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father on December 7 at Seven Oaks Hospital. A fighter who fought right until the end, he has joined our mother, who he mourned for greatly, in heaven.
Left to cherish his memory are sons Raymond Jr.(Colleen), Richard and daughter Diane.
Dad was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Leona; parents John and Helen and sister Arlene.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Raymond attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and St. Paul's College. He excelled in playing and coaching sports, especially baseball, hockey and football. He boxed professionally south of the border but he was destined to return home to be a second generation railway man. Dad worked as a pipefitter for the Canadian National Railway and Via Rail for 40 years. After retiring he enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was an avid gardener.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews St. Entombment will follow at the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Raymond
