Obituary of Rose Jaworski
Rose Jaworski (nee Mymryk) July 7, 1936 - January 3, 2010
After a short battle with cancer, Rose passed away peacefully on January 3, 2010 with her family by her side. She was 73 years old.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Frank of 44 years, children Jim, Marie (Dr. Bob Dyck) Patricia and grandchildren Reagan and Carson. Reagan loved her Baba very much and called her "my best friend".
Her parents Jozefa (Jessie) Sokolska and Jacob Mymryk predeceased Rose.
Rose grew up with her cousins and extended family in the rich cultural community of Winnipeg's north end. She attended King Edward Elementary, Isaac Newton High School and a business college. She was employed by Manitoba's Provincial Department of Education, Attendance Branch, for seven years prior to starting a family.
Rose enjoyed singing in the St John Cantius choir and was a member of the Catholic youth group where she made life long friends. She developed her gift of prayer as a member of the CCRS movement, which became a central part of her life.
When her children were grown, she worked part time as a nanny until retirement. Once retired, she considered it a loving privilege to care for her grandchildren and flower garden.
Rose faced her sudden illness with incredible courage and strength. She never complained or felt sorry for herself. She faced each new challenge with dignity and determination.
Special thanks to Adelle Yanuszewski and Harry Daase who were with us every day and each step of the way, offering love and support and advocating to ensure mom receive the best care possible. To Monsignor Stan Jaworski who ministered to Rose and the family throughout her illness and to the incredible nursing staff at HSC-GH3 for their compassionate care.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday January 6, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, with Msgr. Stan Jaworski and Msgr. Ward Jamieson concelebrating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
