Obituary of Louise Jankiewicz

LOUISE MARY JANKIEWICZ (nee Kozaczek) November 4, 1917 - January 27, 2011 On January 27, 2011, Louise passed away peacefully at Tache Centre at the age of 93 years. Louise was predeceased by her husband Ted on August 21, 1997; daughter JoAnn on April 29, 1997; and her siblings Walter Kozak, Anne Joss, Jessie Leckett, and, Sophie Kulesza. Louise is survived by her sons Greg (Rose Eyjolfson), Mike (Diane), and Rob; her daughter Christine (Matt McLeod); grandchildren Ryan, Matthew, Jennifer and great-grandchild Logan; her sister-in-law Freda Kozak; and, many nieces and nephews. Louise was the last of the beloved Kozaczek/Kozak girls who brought many moments of laughter and joyfulness to family, friends, and others. Louise and her husband Ted were dedicated Catholics and parishioners of Holy Ghost Church and later, St. Edward's Church. Louise was involved with the Catholic Women's League and, along with her husband Ted, was a long time member of the church choir. Louise and Ted raised their family in Winnipeg and were unwavering in their devotion to the special needs of their daughter JoAnn. Among a variety of interests Louise enjoyed league bowling; painting landscapes; cottage life; travel; and, socializing with family and friends, especially if it involved a card game or several rounds of Yahtzee. Louise, with Ted, volunteered to organizations such as the St. Amant Society. For years, Louise enjoyed spending time knitting children's mittens, toques, scarves, and slippers for donation to charitable organizations. The rhythm of her knitting needles bringing her pleasure at the thought of bringing warmth to someone in need. Louise loved to laugh and although somewhat shy and quiet, could bring others to laughter with a quick witty comment, a well timed wink or mischievous facial expression. Louise was a gentle soul who found peace and strength through her faith. The family would like to thank Tache Centre for their care and compassion. Prayers will be held Monday, January 31, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue.
