Obituary of Mildred Hutchinson

Mildred Festina Hutchinson Peacefully on July 8th 2011 at Misericordia Personal Care Home mom left us to meet her beloved husband Festus. Mom was born in Ashton, Union Island St.Vincent and the Grenadines on May 14th 1924 the first born of her siblings. A loving, caring and compassionate lady, Mildred was married to the love of her life, Festus for 52 years until his passing in 1999. Mom was also pre-deceased by one son, Ian 37 years ago. She is survived by two sisters Sincere-USA and Bernadette-Africa, one brother Lincoln-Montreal, six children Omega (Jason) Jones, Deidre, Andrea-Toronto, Nigel (Jodi)-Winnipeg; Tessy (Stephen) Rodney-Georgia, Curtis-Montreal, Nicole (Ryan)-Boston; Andrew Kuwassi Hutchinson-Toronto, Amandia-Ottawa, Yuri, Shimmon-Toronto, Quammie, Kareem-Alberta, Zakiya, Munirah, Xhynon- Toronto; Burnis (Norva) Hutchinson, Jordan, Justin, Ryan-USA; Sandra Phipps, Renee (Nana), Allana (Brent)-Winnipeg; Olga Jones, Helena, Amala-Winnipeg; (Ian-deceased son) Astra, Dale- Alberta, Dave (Michelle)-Winnipeg Mom was a dedicated and committed mother to her family and her children. She was fair to all and believed that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. Her kindness to others was every day as shown in her smiles, sharing hymns and songs to those needing a" pick-me-up" and was willing to listen and comfort others with her gentle voice and calmness. Mom always made herself available to care for those less fortunate and needing help. She was at her best when helping others. Mildred was a stay at home mother who also took care of the family business up until retiring seventeen years ago. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and dress-making for her daughters and grand-daughters. 'Milo' as she was lovingly called, was also quite the chef and won local competitions for her special dishes. She was the strength of her family and will be forever missed. The family wishes to thank the staff of MP2, Interim Care -C2, VGH emergency team, Theresa (Pastoral Care -MP2) Doctors Shaw and Salem for help, care and kindness shown to mom. Mom would wish to say a special thanks to Jackie, Blake, Phyllis Bruce, Gloria Moraldo and Chyrel Allen for their devotion and friendship. Flowers are respectfully declined. Donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba or to the Misericordia Foundation in memory of mom. A viewing will be held on Thursday July 14th, 2011 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street from 6pm to 8 p.m. The funeral will take place at Cropo Funeral Chapel on July 15th, 2011 at 10.00 am followed by reception and interment at the Assumption cemetery. "No more pain mom, as you may now have the rain" Your journey may be over, but your name remains the same. You have heeded His call for now you'll be forever safe. May you rest in peace, as you are saved by His grace. "Much loved, forever in a day".
