Obituary of Edward Henry

EDWARD JOSEPH HENRY November 24, 1931 - May 19, 2011 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Henry, who was taken from us in the early morning of May 19, 2011. Edward died peacefully in his sleep at the Riverview Health Care Centre. Edward is survived by his sons Robert (Beverly), Dave (Christine), Gary (Christine) and grandchildren Christopher (Tanya), Deanne (Scott), and Marc; Amanda and Scott; Fred (Mary), Christopher and Kelly (Erica) and great grandchildren Rhyla and James; Breland and Madeline; and Dylan. Edward was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years Gisele, parents Anne and William, sister Florence and brother Tony. Ed was born in Winnipeg and raised in the North End on Burrows Avenue. He met and fell in love with Gisele and became her husband at the young age of 21. Ed was the proud father of three boys by the time he reached the age of 25. He was a dedicated, loving husband and father. Ed began working full time at a very young age to support his family. The wholesale electrical supplies field was his chosen area of work, beginning his career with Electrical Supplies Ltd and finishing it with Ward Johnson Electric, retiring at the age of 68. Ed loved to tinker and build things and was renowned for the two rec rooms he developed, particularly the rec room on Tracy Crescent. Whether it was building replica fighter planes out of scrap wood, model trains or replica castles out of cardboard, Ed liked to keep busy. In the summertime he loved being in his back yard cleaning his pool or just enjoying a cold drink poolside after a hard day at the office. Sadly, Ed suffered a major heart attack shortly after retiring which led him to being interned at Riverview Health Care Centre. After twelve long years at Riverview, Ed was finally taken from us, succumbing to pneumonia. He will be forever remembered, loved and missed. Ed's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Riverview B2 Ward for the care provided over the past twelve years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 25th at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A private family interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Ed's memory to Riverview Health Care Centre, 1 Morley Ave. Winnipeg, R3L 2P4.
