NATALIA KOHUSKA On January 25, 2012, Natalia passed away at Holy Family Home at the age of 106 years. Natalia is survived by her daughter Helen; 6 grandchildren Juan (Lorna), Lia (Gerry), Niki (Brian), Chris (Shaun), Cynthia (Bart), and Darcy (Mike); 9 great grandchildren Camila, Zachary, Jordan, Morgan, Eamonn, Hannah, Leia, Owen and Liam; and daughter-in-law Helen. She was predeceased by her husband and her son Albert. Natalia Kohuska was born in Lozy, Ukraine in 1905. She came to Canada in 1928, moving from Sioux Lookout, Ontario to Winnipeg in 1939. She has made a significant contribution to the Ukrainian Canadian Community through her life’s work. She was a journalist, historian and author and travelled North America as a public speaker on women’s issues. She served on the Board of Directors of St. Andrew’s College and the Board of Directors of Ukrainian Schools. She was President of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada and President of CYK. She was also Editor of the Women’s Section of The Ukrainian Voice and Editor of Promin Magazine, retiring at the age of 85. There is a permanent display dedicated in her honor at the European Cultural Centre in Vyshnevets, Ukraine, which was opened on the event of her 105th birthday. The family would like to thank Holy Family Home, especially the staff on 2A. A Service will be held on Monday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
