Obituary of Henry Gursky

HENRY ANDREW GURSKY It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather on October 17, 2008 at Fred Douglas Lodge. Henry was predeceased by his wife Pauline and daughter Georgina; parents Wasyl and Agnes; brothers John, Steve, David, Joe and Harry; sisters Mary and Jean. Survived by his daughter Sharron (Randy), granddaughters Angela (Glenn) and Laura (Jason), great grandchildren Aidan, Alexandra and Victoria. Henry was born in Libau, Manitoba on June 13, 1920 where he attended school and worked on the family farm until he joined the Army in 1941, and was in active service until 1946. In 1947 he married Pauline and later became the proud father of Sharron and Georgina. In 1952 he started his career with the CPR and retired in 1985 as a machinist helper. During his long and happy retirement he enjoyed planting his garden each year, having coffee with friends and watching sports on T.V. (especially football). Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. The family would like to thank the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their care and compassion. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street.
