Obituary of Edward Gnitecki

Edward Marian Gnitecki Suddenly, on January 4, 2010, Edward, beloved husband of Marta passed away at his residence. Edward was born on October 13, 1926, in Cecylowka, Poland. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons James (Karen), grandchildren Michael and Joshua; Richard, grandchildren Clifford and Dylan; as well as his daughter January (Michael) Luczak. He was predeceased by his daughter Christine Lobreau who leaves grandchild Toby. Edward is survived by his sister Lola Nowakowski and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Poland. He was predeceased by siblings Aniela Kuryliw, and Marcel and Michael Gnitecki. Edward was a professional carpenter and general contractor, employed by Government Services for many years until his retirement in1991. He was very skilled in all aspects of carpentry. Edward was well known in the Polish Community in Winnipeg and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 034 (Mynarski). Edward was a kind, intelligent, hard working and wonderful person who loved to joke around, laugh, and make others laugh. He enjoyed going out dancing every weekend, playing the accordion, inventing tools and mechanical devices and spending time with family and friends. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 09, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating.
